Due to the complex nature of many internal medicine cases, the service liaises closely with Specialists in all other disciplines available at London Vet Specialists. Our advanced diagnostic facilities including on site CT and MRI scanning, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, digital radiography, full range of rigid and flexible endoscopes, extensive in-house laboratory and our intensive 24/7 veterinary care, mean we can provide one of the most advanced internal medicine referral services in central London.

The service accepts referrals for, and can provide advice to your practice, in all aspects of internal medicine including:

  • Respiratory medicine including investigation of nasal discharge, cough, and dyspnea
  • Gastroenterology including investigation of anorexia, chronic vomiting and diarrhoea
  • Hepatic disease including acute and chronic hepatitis as well as portosystemic shunts
  • Endocrinology
  • Chronic kidney disease as well as other renal diseases
  • Urinary tract disease including urinary incontinence
  • Infectious diseases including Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP) and Aspergillosis
  • Haematological diseases including anaemia and thrombocytopenia
  • Immune mediated diseases including polyarthritis
  • Pyrexia of unknown origin

Our internal medicine team comprises both European and American board-certified specialists who are dedicated to collaborating with referring veterinarians to provide the highest level of care for their patients. Our team consists of specialists Dr Mary Trehy, Dr Susanna Spence, Dr Jodie Green and Dr Laura Bree, supported by our dedicated medicine nursing team of Bryony, Abi and Amy. Our large and diversely experienced team benefits from case discussions and collaborative work both within the medicine team and the wider specialist team across other disciplines.

Terms and Conditions

During the proposed testing, we may identify areas that require further investigation. This could necessitate additional diagnostic procedures, which will be estimated separately and agreed upon with the patient's owner before proceeding.

If required, oral medications will be prescribed or sent home with, and these will incur additional costs.

Hospitalisation and/or overnight treatment if required, will be charged additionally as appropriate. The cost for such services would be estimated separately and agreed upon with the patient's owner before proceeding.

Night treatment, this will be charged additionally. The cost for such services would be estimated separately and agreed upon with the patient's owner before proceeding.
