Rachael qualified in 2018 and spent a year in 1st opinion before spending time locuming in a variety of 1st opinion, emergency and referral hospitals and travelling which included working and volunteering abroad. She has contributed to veterinary work in nine countries around the world.

Rachael accepted a permanent job at a charity clinic/shelter in Malawi as the Head Nurse, Clinic & Shelter Manager. This involved working closely with the local community, providing a variety of veterinary care, rabies vaccinations and TVT treatments. Whilst there, she was lucky enough to work with the local wildlife reserve, predominantly working with lions, cheetahs, wild dogs and pangolins, as well as being involved in the training and veterinary team for two new anti-poaching dogs that were provided to the park.

Since returning to the UK 3 years ago, she has been working nights at a 24-hour emergency hospital.

Rachael’s clinical interests include; ECC, Transfusion Medicine, Analgesia, Wound Management, Feline nursing with an emphasis on geriatric patients. She is currently studying for an ECC certificate and the ISFM Diploma in Feline Nursing.

Her hobbies include open /cold water swimming, travelling, reading and gardening.

She has 2 cats, Elvis a 17 year old polydactyl and Ruby a 12 year old hand-rear, plus a tortoise called Victor who is roughly 35.
