James grew up in the Cheshire countryside before moving to London in 2003 to study Veterinary medicine at the Royal Veterinary College. He graduated in 2008 with a passion for animal care and an enthusiasm for mixed animal practice. After 18 months of working in a well-established mixed animal practice with all creatures great and small, he transitioned to working solely with small animals in a veterinary hospital in Berkshire.

James’ journey to specialism began in 2011 with a small animal rotating internship which was followed by a four-year residency at Willows Referrals in Solihull. James achieved the European Diploma in Veterinary Neurology in 2022, having worked continuously as a clinician at Willows. In May 2024 James relocated to London taking his current position as Head of Neurology and Neurosurgery at London Vet Specialists.

With expertise honed through years of experience in a referral setting, James brings compassion and precision to every case, both medical and surgical. He is committed to improving the lives of pets under his care. His particular areas of interests include vestibular disease, challenging epileptic cases and spinal surgery.

Outside of work, James enjoys travelling, running and natural bodybuilding, having previously competed in and won his age category.
